Children and butterflies

Cabbage Whites in the Classroom is a project of the Dutch Butterfly Conservation which aims to bring nature to the classroom in an accessible way. Every year, about 3,000 schools (more than 75,000 children!) use the school package. Throughout the project they experience the entire metamorphosis of the butterfly, an unforgettable experience.

Thanks to the donation from Fonds 1999, the Dutch Butterfly Conservation has been able to further expand this project. A platform has been developed through which the activities can also be continued outside the classroom. There are fun home assignments and a butterfly recognition card available, and children can get started on making their garden butterfly-friendly. Teachers can send information, photos, and experiences directly to the parents via the platform and share results: when did the first butterfly pupate? When did the eggs hatch?
