Stichting Oud Geleerd Jong Gedaan believes that all seniors in the Netherlands, regardless of their financial situation, should be given the opportunity to continue learning, stimulate their minds and meet new people. That is why OGJG has been offering their lectures for free for elderly people with a minimum wage or less as income since 2023. Learning later in life promotes mental health, reduces loneliness, and even prevents cognitive decline. OGJG’s lectures bring elderly into contact with new ideas and offer food for thought and discussion. Moreover, they create an intergenerational connection, allowing young people and elderly to learn from each other. Thanks to a donation from Fonds 1999, OGJG was able to offer the lectures for free to the elderly in Amsterdam in 2023, ensuring lifelong learning is truly possible for everyone.
