STICHTING HET GEHANDICAPTE KIND – DE SPEELTUINBENDE
© 2023 NSGK

A society in which every child has friends, and in which no disabled child has to feel alone: that is the goal of Stichting het Gehandicapte Kind. This mission is supported by the Playground Gang, part of Stichting het Gehandicapte Kind. With an active group of children, both with and without disabilities, the Playground Gang aims to achieve a society in which all children can play and learn together, happily and carefree, with peers from their neighbourhood. The project distinguishes itself by emphasizing inclusive play and child participation, where children are given the opportunity to take action themselves, including testing playgrounds for accessibility. Thanks to the support of Fonds 1999, two important projects have been realized, enabling Stichting het Gehandicapte Kind to make an even greater positive impact on the lives of children with disabilities. With the contribution from Fonds 1999, work has been done at local level to promote an inclusive play culture. More than 90 local initiatives have been set up, such as Play Days and Playground Gang Tests, to allow children with and without disabilities to play together. In addition, de Grote Samenspeeldag was organised, the best Play Festival for children with and without disabilities, where around 800 visitors experienced how great playing together is.
