Stichting Appeltaartconcerten brings classical music to people and therefore plays in neighbourhood theatres, community centres, care homes for the elderly and in special education. Its core activity is playing in nursing homes for elderly people with dementia, for instance, but also in neighbourhood theatres people (who otherwise never attend a classical concert) are often deeply moved. Afterwards, of course, apple crumble is served. The apple crumble symbolises the warm atmosphere and social function of the concerts. Because experiencing something beautiful together and eating together connects people. Partly thanks to the support of Fonds 1999, Stichting Appeltaartconcerten was able to play more than 200 apple crumble concerts in 1.5 years, even in times of COVID-19.
