ROSA SPIER HOUSE – THEATER AFTER THE DAM
In the context of Remembrance Day (May 4th) and Liberation Day (May 5th), a performance was made in the spring of 2023 in the Rosa Spier House, partly thanks to a donation from Fonds 1999, as part of Theater na de dam. The Rosa Spier House in Laren is a living and working community of older artists and scientists where they live among like-minded people. Theater na de Dam is an initiative in which theater is used to generate depth and connection in the commemoration of the Second World War. For the performance that was presented in the Rosa Spier House, we collaborated with a group of young people aged 14 and older. The performance was made from the stories of survivors from the first and second generations, in particular residents of the Rosa Spier House. The young people discussed with and listened to the elderly. In this way, material was collected with which a theatrical concept was created.
