OpenEmbassy guides children of newcomers with so-called TOMaatjes: Volunteers who provide tutoring and monitor how the children are doing at school. With financial help of Fonds 1999, the transition was made from a manual link in spreadsheets to a professional matching system for language volunteers and children. The new system immediately received many registrations from new participants. With the new system, TOMaatjes has also been able to work with a volunteer coordinator to provide volunteers with more substantive support and additional training through online consultations and workshops.
