NATIONAL OPERA & BALLET – ARTISTIC ASYLUM FOR REFUGEE ARTISTS

© 2023 Nationale opera en ballet

In the spring of 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine, immediately triggering a large flow of refugees. Thanks to financial support from, among others, Fonds 1999, the National Opera & Ballet (NO&B) has been able to create additional places to accommodate artists from both countries. A safe place where they could continue training, develop and focus on the future. These artists have become a full-fledged part of the companies, with the same contracts and compensation as other NO&B artists.

Three dancers joined the large company of the National Ballet (HNB), four young dancers were accommodated in the Junior Company of the National Ballet, and two opera singers found a place at the National Opera. Artistically they have all developed strongly. We believe that these artists will make a great contribution to the preservation and development of opera and ballet in Ukraine in the future.
