Since 1998, the Grachtenfestival has served as a platform for the latest generation of young and talented musicians (up to 35 years old) and focuses specifically on the presentation and development of young talent and young professionals in classical music and jazz from all over the world. The series Young Talent in the Oude Wester and Grachtenfestival Launches form a duo program with which the Grachtenfestival uniquely gives space, guidance and stimulation to young musicians to develop themselves as professional musicians. The series are jointly part of the Grachtenfestival’s objective to support young talent at various levels at the start of their professional career. Partly thanks to the contribution from Fonds 1999, the five concerts from the series in the Westerkerk could be offered free of charge to the public during the Grachtenfestival 2023.
