Fonds Kwadraat provides interest-free loans to visual artists, photographers and designers. With the help of these loans, they are able to finance an exhibition or a publication, to purchase equipment, to build a new website or to participate in an artist-in-residency. For example, Lenn Cox published a book, Jaimy Gail de Gier built a dark room and Baha Görkum Yalim invested in equipment to be able to make new work.
Founded in the 1970s, Fonds Kwadraat is more topical than ever: the government is withdrawing and artists are looking for alternative ways of financing to be able to make new work. Fonds Kwadraat will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2021.
