Boris Acket and Maarten Vos, together with Christopher Bauder, embarked on a research process to convert the music of Bach’s sixth cello suite into a new composition and a new audiovisual instrument, in which light rays react directly to the sound. As a result, visitors to the project in the Zuiderkerk in Amsterdam were immersed in a different world of light, sound and space. The audiovisual (live) shows, inspired by Bach’s music, became a fusion of classical and contemporary, accessible and qualitative, and spectacular and contemplative.
Thanks to a donation of Fonds 1999, SECHS has brought a broad and especially young audience into contact with Bach’s music. At a time of uncertainty due to the corona epidemic, SECHS brought the power and inspiration of an all-encompassing experience, where old and new art merged.
