Twenty young, up-and-coming singers rehearsed a challenging choral programme from 13 to 20 February 2026, together with four experienced professional singers, under the direction of a renowned European choral conductor. This was followed by a series of seven concerts performed around the country from 21 to 28 February. This year the focus was on Hungary, with Hungarian repertoire (Bartók, Liszt, Kodály, Ligeti and others) and members of the Hungarian Radio Choir under the direction of Zóltan Pad.
This marked the 16th edition of Meesters&Gezellen, a concept that has proven its success for many years now: not only through the great appreciation of audiences, but also because many young singers have found their way into professional choral practice through this project in recent years.
This edition posed an additional challenge for Stichting Tettix, following the unexpected deaths of both business director Klaas van der Linden and founder and artistic director Geert Berghs. With the support of, among others, Fonds 1999, Tettix was nonetheless able to carry the project forward. The highlight was the closing concert on 28 February at the Domkerk, attended by 500 visitors, which ended with a specially composed in memoriam for Geert Berghs: In lumine tuo – In your light we see light.
