STICHTING SPACEBUZZ FOUNDATION – SPACEBUZZ’S 3RD DUTCH ROCKET
SpaceBuzz is a unique educational programme, co-developed by astronaut André Kuipers. SpaceBuzz educates pupils in sustainability, technology, innovation, and citizenship. After an extensive lesson package in the classroom, the highlight is a fifteen-metre-long rocket driving onto the school playground. Inside, the children embark on a lifelike journey to Earth from space using advanced Virtual Reality. From space, they look down on our planet and experience the famous ‘Overview Effect’. Through the eyes of an astronaut, they see just how beautiful, yet how vulnerable, our world is. This inspires them to become true changemakers for our planet. Fonds 1999 has made a donation towards the third SpaceBuzz rocket in the Netherlands. This new rocket has a specific purpose: it will be deployed on a structural basis for schools in Rotterdam and the surrounding area, with a particular focus on schools with pupils facing disadvantage. In this way, thousands of children in the region will have the opportunity to take part in the SpaceBuzz programme, and together we invest in local changemakers of the future.
