New Music First wants to give new music a more prominent and lasting place in the Dutch music panorama. Through ambitious and innovative projects, they strive to introduce not only current concert visitors, but also a broader audience, to the potential, diversity and emotional power of the music of contemporary composers. New music that surprises with its accessibility and can energize, fascinate, comfort and entertain.
Bruckner Casco was New Music First’s first project, which was made possible in part by the financial support of Fonds 1999. To celebrate Anton Bruckner’s 200th birthday, his ten symphonies were entrusted to ten composers. Each of them adopted a symphony and used it as a source of inspiration for their own new composition. The eleven resulting, highly diverse works formed the foundation of Bruckner Casco, a groundbreaking festival that took place from September 13 to 15, 2024.
