The musical performance The Snowman by Stichting Jonge Strijkers & Blazers is an enchanting musical theatre, based on the well-known animated film, brought together a large and diverse audience – with extra attention for children and young people. The young musicians of Jonge Strijkers & Blazers Nederland performed the beautiful music live, which took the audience along in the story. In this way, not only young visitors got the chance to experience classical music, but the young musicians themselves also got the chance to shine on a professional stage.

Together with the artists Vingerling and De Bruyne, writer Martine van der Horn and KIVA, a performance was created in which music, live illustrations, workshops and storytelling came together to create a magical experience.

The project reached a large audience: more than 2,000 visitors enjoyed the performances and workshops. Pop-up concerts in community centres, schools and libraries also allowed people who would not normally visit a concert hall to enjoy this special performance. Thanks to Fonds 1999, not only could high-quality performances be presented, but art and culture were also made accessible to a new generation.
