The HandbikeBattle is a handbike competition for people with a physical disability. The battle scene is the climb to the Kaunertaler glacier in Austria. The participants hand cycle – completely on arm strength – upwards, over a length of 20 km and with 867 meters difference in height. An extreme challenge for hand cyclists of all levels that requires good preparation. The challenge “forces” the participants to live a healthy life and get fitter. In the end, they deliver a feat they didn’t know they were capable of. The impact of the HandbikeBattle is therefore great. By literally conquering a mountain with the hand bike, the participants get to know themselves even better. In daily life, this experience gives power to pursue other dreams, to live a healthy life and to stay fit. For many people it is a life changing experience.
