The Fruitmotor wants to make Rivierenland more beautiful, climate-proof and biodiverse and therefore started “Gonzend Rivierenland” in 2020. De Fruitmotor works together with various authorities and residents to connect the beautiful areas in Rivierenland. With support of Fonds 1999, work has been done on the Butterfly Route, an ecological landscape ribbon from Tiel to Eck en Wiel, consisting of strips of land with blooming flowers, shrubs, trees, hedges as well as ponds, nature-friendly banks and other elements that attract insects and other animals. Butterfly gardens are also being created in the villages along the route. Quite a number of large and small site owners are already participating, and Tiel and Zoelen are already buzzing with activities to make gardens and sites more biodiverse. In the coming years, work will continue on connecting the existing and new steppingstones in the landscape.
