PRISMA FOUNDATION

For the past 50 years, the Prisma Foundation has been providing Amsterdam residents with an intellectual disability with a weekly activity to look forward to every week and to talk about enthusiastically when they return home. Thanks to the contribution from Fonds 1999 and the efforts of many enthusiastic volunteers, the participants could also make music in the ‘Neighborhood Band’ in 2022, swim, sing, bowling, dance, cook and do yoga. Prisma also organized excursions, such as a visit to the Efteling and a ride on the Museum Tram. More than 400 people were reached with this offer. What is unique about Prisma’s working method is that the activities are not linked to a specific residential location, but are accessible to all Amsterdam residents. The participants appreciate that they meet other people at ‘their club’ and expand their network. In this way, loneliness is combated among this target group. In addition, participants develop their skills and can discover new talents.
