OEROL FOR THE DEAF AND HEARING IMPAIRED

© 2022 Oerol

Accessibility at Oerol for the deaf and hearing impaired does not only mean a program for the deaf and hearing impaired, but especially with the deaf and hearing impaired. To this end, Oerol works closely with experts by experience and experts from the target group.

Almost the entire online program of the Oerol Festival 2021 was accessible to the deaf and hearing impaired through the use of Dutch Sign Language interpreters and through subtitling at the various presentations and performances. A Life of Hiccups, a collaboration with Mezrab-House of Stories, was a big part of the program. With this production, Oerol, together with artists with and without an auditory disability, explored the possibilities for using both languages and the poetic mix that can result of this.

Thanks in part to Fonds 1999, major steps were taken during Oerol 2021.
