In the educational program “Feest! Weet wat je viert” (Celebration! Know what you celebrate) children discuss religions and traditions. “Feest! Weet wat je viert” connects with children’s experiences (celebration is the best thing there is!) and encourages understanding of each other’s cultural and religious backgrounds. This is also true for special education, where suitable educational resources are often lacking.
Four museums—Museum Ons’ Lieve Heer op Solder, Het Tropenmuseum, Het Wereldmuseum, and Museum Catharijneconvent—developed accessible and festive programs for various special education groups, together with special education schools. With teaching materials, assignments, training sessions, and practical tools, we ensure that all students feel welcome. Thanks to the support of Fonds 1999, this unique pilot program was realized, making “Celebrate!” even more inclusive at the participating museums.
