MASTERCLASS PROJECT AMNESTY NETHERLANDS

© 2022 Amnesty

Amnesty Netherlands aims to make university and college students aware of the great importance of human rights and to motivate them to actively contribute to increasing support for human rights. This is done primarily by teaching them about human rights topics during Masterclasses and by having them conduct their own research. Each of the Masterclasses, which could take place partly thanks to a donation by Fonds 1999, focused on a different human rights theme, tailored to a current events. By letting participants hear the appealing stories of activists, abstract human rights topics come to life. For example, during the Masterclass on Amnesty’s global writing campaign Write for Rights, Yren and Kimberley from Paraguay told the students what problems they face as a result of their fight for the rights of LGBT people. Their persistence gained much admiration. The Masterclasses made the participants so enthusiastic that many indicated that they wanted to actively work for human rights and Amnesty International.
