Every child has the right to equal opportunities. But for 1 in 5 children in Amsterdam this is not self-evident. With the mission to increase equality of opportunity in society and break intergenerational poverty, Stichting Studiezalen offers young people from vulnerable neighborhoods in Amsterdam the space to learn and develop. They also offer secondary school students in Amsterdam East a place to learn and develop. In the Royal Tropical Institute (KIT) Stichting Studiezalen works to achieve equality of opportunity and personal growth with targeted homework guidance by qualified volunteers, life coaching and talent development. Thanks to the multi-year support from Fonds 1999, Stichting Studiezalen was able to continue to guide its students at this special location in Amsterdam East during the 2023-2024 school year, just like in the two previous school years.
