STICHTING HET NATIONALE PARK DE HOGE VELUWE – RENOVATION ENTRANCE
De Hoge Veluwe National Park offers a unique combination of nature, culture, and architecture. The 5,400-hectare park welcomes approximately 600,000 visitors annually. To ensure a welcoming and smooth welcome, the existing entrances are being renovated. The renovation is necessary to improve ticket sales, ticket control, and traffic flow. Health, safety, and user requirements have also changed over the 25 years of the entrance buildings’ existence. Thanks in part to support from Fonds 1999, the park has been able to renovate the entrance in Otterlo. Sustainability is a high priority in the design of the new building, which is reflected in, among other things, flexibility and reuse. The brick exterior of the old lodge has been replaced by a living “skin” of plants and grasses that blend in with the surroundings. The interior is constructed using, among other things, De Hoge Veluwe’s own timber. This renovated entrance opened at the end of May 2025.
