The Dutch Double Bass Festival is a biennial international music festival with the double bass, bass guitar and viola da gamba in the spotlights for two days, right across all musical styles! On 29 & 30 October 2021, an exclusive and diverse international line up (including Dave Holland, John Scofield, Derrick Hodge, Liam Byrne and the trio Dominic Seldis, Mike Boddé and Sasha Witteveen) played in Theater Zuidplein in Rotterdam. For the first time, the festival also commissioned a large composition. Composer Laureate Calliope Tsoupaki wrote a new piece for the bassists of the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra and soloist Božo Paradžik. The third edition of DDBF became the most visited edition, despite all the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic!
