Dutch Double Bass Festival is the international festival where the bass is central and which is aimed at a broad audience of music lovers. The fourth edition took place on 13 & 14 October 2023 in Theater Zuidplein in Rotterdam and provided a podium for more than 19 acts with the bass in the leading role, 7 Q&As, a photo exhibition and Ateliers-in-residence of instrument makers. DDBF offers musical diversity – from classical to global, jazz and hip hop. Spectacular during this edition was a new composition, commissioned by the festival, written by young and promising composer A. Crespo Barba, for no fewer than 60 double bass players who came to DDBF from conservatories throughout Europe to study and perform this piece. Without the warm support of Fonds 1999, Dutch Double Bass Festival 2023 could not have taken place!
