STICHTING TETTIX – MEESTERS & GEZELLEN 2025

© 2025 Stichting Tettix

Meesters & Gezellen is a form of workplace learning in which young vocal students, the Gezellen, are taught by experienced singers, the Meesters, the skills to sing at the highest level in a professional a cappella chamber choir and perform a series of seven concerts throughout the Netherlands. The 2025 edition, supported by Fonds 1999, was conducted by Daniel Reuss. Four experienced singers from Cappella Amsterdam served as Masters, one for each vocal group. The concert program was a hallmark of Cappella Amsterdam in recent years: Orthodox choral music from Northern and Eastern Europe and Asia Minor: compositions by Schnittke, Pärt, Komitas, Stravinsky, Tüür, Kalinnikov, Tchaikovsky, and Syriac and Aramaic chants.

The Meesters & Gezellen method has proven effective over the years. Many Gezellen found their way to professional ensembles at home and abroad, such as Cappella Amsterdam (12 members in the permanent formation), the Netherlands Chamber Choir, The Amsterdam Baroque Choir, the Choir of the Netherlands Bach Society, the Helsinki Chamber Choir, the Groot Omroepkoor, the SWR Vokalensemble Stuttgard, Chorwerk Ruhr, the Zürcher Singakademie and Les Cris de Paris.
