24CLASSICS – RE:PLY TO ALL
© 2023 24Classics

Re:ply to all is the new biennial music festival of 24classics that pushes the boundaries of what classical music can mean. With compelling multidisciplinary performances, the festival aims to create a dialogue between classical music and current social issues. Partly thanks to the support of Fonds 1999, the first edition had a rich programming. The core of this first edition is formed by the work of composer Julius Eastman, whose music and legacy are reflected in this year’s theme: ‘insider vs outsider’. Eastman’s ‘Gay Guerrilla’ was the composition that was central to the audiovisual installation of the same name by audiovisual artist Boris Acket and choreographer Christian Guerematchi. The installation could be visited for two weeks and formed the backdrop for the live concerts and rituals that took place in the middle of the installation. An exhibition – curated by artist Iris Kensmil together with Ferdinand van Dieten, the debate, workshops and introductions to films provided substantive context to the program and provided an exciting, diverse and in-depth (listening) experience.
